Weymouth, MA— The campaign to elect Dr. Katie McBrine to State Senate, Plymouth and Norfolk, got a real boost this past weekend when former Governor and Democratic Presidential Nominee Michael Dukakis stopped into Weymouth to lend his considerable influence to her cause. Governor Dukakis fully supports Katie in this race and told a packed room at the Fairing Way Retirement Living Center in Union Point, Weymouth why: Katie would bring experience and skills to Beacon Hill the likes of which have not been seen before.
The former Governor spoke highly of Dr. McBrine’s professional background, saying “One of the things that Katie brings to this is not only a professional background that is so important, but I don't have to tell you these days just how important the whole healthcare thing is. This state, to its credit, has done a lot better than most states when it comes to that, but it's a constant battle, dealing not only with a strange Administration in Washington, but one that seems to think that taking healthcare away from 20-25 million people is a good thing to do. Katie will tell you that if we do that the emergency rooms in this country are going to be full of people who lost their insurance and whose only alternative is to go to the emergency room.”
Dr. McBrine feels honored to have support from such a highly-esteemed Democrat, one whose signature issues are critically important to her as well. “Governor Dukakis and I see eye to eye on transportation: support for business and economic growth demands that we invest in our public transportation. We can’t be a modern Massachusetts unless we can safely, reliably, and affordably move large numbers of people around the state. Getting more people onto our trains, busses and ferries is also good for the environment, which I care a lot about. It’s good policy that is good for everyone.”
Dr. Katie McBrine, a pediatrician who practices in Scituate, is the Democratic candidate running for the Plymouth & Norfolk state senate seat, which includes the towns of Weymouth, Hingham, Hull, Norwell, Cohasset, Scituate, Marshfield, and Duxbury. Her campaign, "A Prescription for Change," reflects a commitment to health and community through health care system reform, modernizing public transportation, providing unsurpassed educational opportunities for all, and stewarding the environment. Dr. McBrine lives in Hingham with her husband and two children. For more information about the campaign, visit www.votemcbrine.com or social media channels.
